Charges are just the Shapes and patterns that go on the shield to personalize it.  There are a number of  examples above, you certainly don't need to stick to those.  They are  just things that I  can draw (after a fashion).  Remember the rule about  colours and metals, and how to use them, when you plan how to lay the charges onto your field.
