Arth's Story
Situated high up in the city close to the administration
area and the Royal Citadel, The temple of Arth holds pride of place in the
Porter’s Bar religious hierarchy.
As the Patron of the City, Arth’s temple is involved in all aspects of city
life. His clerics take an interest in just about everything that happens in the
city.
The temple is also the venue for Royal Coronations, namings, marriages and other
major ceremonies. At these major ceremonies the ‘Priest’s Arch’ at the
back of the temple can be filled with clerics of all denominations and faiths as
the bless the city and its rulers.
Next to the Temple is the Rectory - The home of the High Priest of the temple
and his six ‘assistants’. The High Priest is automatically a member of the
Council of the godly.
The temple itself is split into 3 main sections - The section behind the altar
is known as the ‘Priest’s Arch’ and is an area of the church reserved for
any person holding orders in a religion recognised in the city. So when there is
a major ceremony this area can be jam packed full of devotees of all sorts of
gods. The ‘Choir’s Arch’ is reserved for choristers and other lay members
of the church hierarchy. The general congregation is invited to join in
ceremonies from behind the ‘People’s Arch’
The congregation is called to service by a drum located on a tower over the
Central part of the temple. The drum starts 30 minutes before the scheduled time
of service and continues at a rate of one beat per minute. It falls silent after
the thirtieth stroke as the High Priest starts his ceremony ….
The temple drum is also used to call the citizenry to arms .. A regular beat -
of one beat per 2 seconds is used as the rallying call for the militia and armed
forced. When this alarm is sounded it is generally picked up by the gong of
Yamara’s temple …
