Matock
The Barony of Matock
is in the foothills, tucked into a large mountain valley. The Matock region is renowned for its sheep and
quarries. The villagers raise the sheep,
the wool is hand spun and taken into town for weaving – eventually woollen
material is exported. They take marble
from a couple of quarries, which is either exported as slabs for decoration or
blocks for carving statues. Matock also produces
the local 'Falmar Wine', although it is less important as an export than the rock
and wool.
The villages of Beddau, Yatton and Machen look to Matock for leadership, but it is still considered to be a bit of a cultural
backwater. (Agriculture & Food)
